RegEx GEDCOM

...is a DELUXE LTOOL which allows the user to edit (using regular expressions) a GEDCOM file.

Usage:

To edit (using regular expressions) a GEDCOM file:

  1. Open your Legacy database in _LTools_.
  2. Double-click RegEx GEDCOM in the Deluxe LTools tree to bring up the dialog for this LTool.
  3. Select the Input GEDCOM File. This is the Legacy generated GEDCOM file that you wish to use as input to this process.
  4. Enter (or select) the Output GEDCOM File. This is where _LTools_ will save the results of this process. _LTools_ will not modify the Input GEDCOM File.
  5. Enter the Regular Expressions (REs) that you wish to apply to this GEDCOM file.
  6. Click the Run button to apply the REs and create the Output GEDCOM File.

Fields:

uri/../images/bluepin.gif Input GEDCOM File

Select the GEDCOM file that you wish to use as input to this process. This setting is "sticky".

uri/../images/bluepin.gif Output GEDCOM File

Enter (or select) the name of the GEDCOM file that you wish this process to create after applying the REs. This setting is "sticky".

uri/../images/bluepin.gif Regular Expressions (REs)

Enter the REs (one per line) that you wish this process to apply to the GEDCOM file. This setting is "sticky".

Each RE must be in the form:

/pattern/replacement/

For example, the following two REs will remove quoted nicknames from your GEDCOM file:

/ˆ(1 NAME .*)\".*\"(.*$)/$1$2/
/ˆ(2 GIVN .*)\".*\"(.*$)/$1$2/
